Famous Jean Laffite’s Pirate House.  This house was located in the 400 block of North Beach Boulevard.  These pictures are from August of 1969.  The one on the left is the house the way it was before Hurricane Camille, the other is after Hurricane Camille.  Tales of  hidden treasures buried on the property along with the underground tunnels going out to the Mississippi Sound where Lafitte’s Boats loaded and unloaded treasures.  They also had tales of an underground cellar where the “Racks” and chains shackled the slaves to the wall.  Below is the house that replaced the Pirate House after Hurricane Camille.  It is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Lucien Gex of Waveland.  Below also is the State Historical Marker that was just dedicated to the site.
